This renowned artist was trained by Johann Baptist Drechsler and Sebastian Wegmayr at the Vienna Academy and became one of the most distinguished flower painters of the Biedermeier age. By 1814 he had been appointed at the School of Flower Drawing at the Vienna Academy, becoming professor there in 1832, and in 1835 Academic Counsellor and Director of the Academy’s School of Porcelain Painting.
