THE PRESENTATION OF THE PRINCELY COLLECTIONS IN THE VIENNESE PALACES

The return of these art treasures to the historic setting of the Liechtenstein SUMMER PALACE in the Rossau quarter, where the collection was on public view from 1807 to 1938, as well as the considered way in which it is presented, conveys authentically both the history of the House of Liechtenstein and the central importance of art to the dynasty.

Having undergone painstaking restoration over the past few years, the Liechtenstein CITY PALACE on Bankgasse opened as a second exhibition space in spring 2013, providing an authentic and sumptuous Rococo Revival setting to showcase the collection’s holdings of superb works of art from the Biedermeier and neoclassical eras.

EXHIBITIONS IN AUSTRIA AND ABROAD

Outside Vienna, the Princely Collections are also represented abroad in a range of temporary exhibitions. Spectacular international shows in Milan, Antwerp, Moscow, Prague, Evian and Forte di Bard have reinforced the outstanding reputation of the Princely Collections. The PRIVATE ART COLLECTIONS with their partner institutions also serve as an important platform for presentation. Last but not least, selected objects from the collections are regularly loaned to museums all over the world.
